of the Amazon rainforest which is about 5.5 Million square kilometers and it represents over half of the planets remaining rainforests. The Amazon rainforest, count with the largest reserves of natural resources in the world, which represent a total of 54% of existing rainforests on Earth. It has an area of 2.5 million square miles covering nine countries in South America: Brazil,
Colombia, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia and the Guianas: Guyana, French Guiana and Suriname. The main engine that powers the "green ocean" is the Amazon River, which rises in the Andes of Peru and flows along more than 4,000 miles before emptying into the vicinity of

Belem, Brazil, being fed by 1,100 tributaries along of its travel. The map above shows the current extent of the Amazon.

TROPICAL RAINFOREST & TEMPERATE RAINFOREST



There are two types of rainforest. One is the Tropical which is near to the equator known as the tropic zone and then The Temperate that is situated next to the coasts in the temperate zone. Temperatures close to the tropic zone are higher, causing accelerated evaporation of water, which giving as consequences, frequent rain in forested areas in the tropics. The Tropical rainforests are in South and Central America, Africa, The largest tropical rainforest is in the Amazon River Basin,

the Congo River Basin, and throughout much of Southeast Asia. There are many smaller ones located throughout the tropics including Central America, Madagascar, Australia and India. The Temperate rainforests are in the temperate zones that are found in the pacific coast of the United States and Canada, New Zealand, Tasmania, Chile, Ireland, Scotland and Norway. There are fewer temperate forests. Also they cover a lot less area. The following map above shows it the two types of Rainforest.
